Details are scarce about Star Wars: Episode VIII, but one thing's for certain: The Rian Johnson-directed movie is going to have one badass female lead. According to TheWrap, the shortlist for Episode VIII includes Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany, Jane the Virgin's Gina Rodriguez and Bates Motel's Olivia Cooke.
It's reportedly very early in the casting process, but sources say Maslany, Rodriguez and Cooke are among the actresses anticipated to chemistry-read with The Force Awakens starJohn Boyega. Benicio del Toro is also nearing a deal to play a villain in Episode VIII, which is slated for a May 26, 2017 release.
