Andrew Garfield hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time this weekend, and got some advice from his not-so-surprise guest, Emma Stone — as well as a liplock from Coldplay singer Chris Martin.

Stone, Garfield's Spider-Man 2co-star and real-life girlfriend, offered some unsolicited advice during Garfield's (not very funny) opening monologue. She then returned later in the evening for a much more laugh-worthy skit about filming the Big Kiss scene in Spider-Man 2. With Coldplay marking its fifth (!) appearance as the show's musical guest, Martin also showed off his comedic chops by assisting with the scene.

Check out highlights from the episode below:

Opening Monologue: Even Stone's presence can't save Garfield's opening monologue from mediocrity. We can't tell if his discomfort is real or staged, but fortunately the episode can only get better from here.

Celebrity Family Feud: This mostly directionless sketch is worth watching if only for Kate McKinnon's impersonation of Shakira.

Weekend Update: Olya Povlatsky on the Ukraine: McKinnon wins the VIP award for this episode, resurrecting her Weekend Update character Olya Povlatsky, a Russian woman who offers her thoughts on the Ukraine crisis.

The Beygency: The best sketch of the night features Garfield as a regular guy who finds himself on the run after committing the international crime of saying he's not really a fan of Beyonce. It also gives us the best SNL cameo in a while, with Keifer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub popping up as their 24: Live Another Day characters Jack Bauer and Chloe O'Brian.

Spider-Man Kiss: Despite the fact that they're a couple in real life, Stone and Garfield just can't get their chemistry down when filming a kiss scene for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Fortunately Chris Martin of Coldplay is on hand to step in.
