Saturday Night Live Got Jason Momoa Back in Khal Drogo's Wig

This weekend, Aquaman star Jason Momoa hosted Saturday Night Liveand proved he could still fit right into his skin suit as Khal Drogo thanks to all those workouts to become Arthur Curry. In a sketch called "Khal Drogo's Ghost Dojo," he co-hosts a talk show featuring some of Game of Thrones' dearly departed characters, including Hodor (Beck Bennett), who still doesn't say much but definitely relishes his job holding the door, and the High Sparrow (Pete Davidson), who's pretty peeved that his sacrificial allegiance to the Seven has landed him in the same heavenly plane as the womanizing and murderous Khal.

For some reason, Brienne of Tarth (Heidi Gardner) also shows up looking for the long lost Stark children before we get to a few commercials about little beard twisties and renting the Red Wedding hall for private ceremonies. That's when the kicker comes along, as Kate McKinnon arrives as King Joffrey Baratheon, with all his misguided self-possession in tow: "Go ahead and boo me, I love it. You're all just mad that you're not me," NotJoffrey teases. He gets the chance to finally go head-to-head with his assassin, Olenna Tyrell (Aidy Bryant), which results in a slap-fight for the ages.

This all caps off with a hilarious makeover for Oberyn Martell, who's so excited about his new peepers that he starts doing the floss. There've been a lot of Game of Thrones bits to come and go on SNL, but this one has to be the most creative -- if wasteful of its opportunity to feature the actual Khal in the flesh.

Of course, it wasn't all Dothraki netherworld fun Saturday night. The episode actually began with a cold open dedicated to -- what else?! -- Donald Trump's ongoing legal troubles with the Russia investigation.

Robert De Niro reprised his role as Special Counsel Robert Mueller to interrupt the night-night ritual of Donald Trump Jr. (Mikey Day) and Eric Trump (Alex Moffat), proving that there really is a boogey-man stalking their family.

"Mr. Mueller, people say you're the worst thing ever to happen to my dad," FauxEric tells DeMueller at his bedside.

"No, Eric, getting elected president was the worst thing that ever happened to your dad," he replies.

The show also imagined what it might be like if Trump was a black president named Darius, with an Empire-themed segment called "Them Trumps" that features the exact same scandals that have plagued the administration, but with a more expeditious law enforcement result.

"Yep, that sounds about right."

Meanwhile, the episode was also pretty heavy on holiday content, including a segment that explores how creepy the whole Elf on the Shelf concept is -- especially for kids who've hit the teenage years and all the glory of puberty sets in.

And Momoa got into the holiday spirit with an epilogue version of A Christmas Carol, featuring him as the extra spirit haunting Scrooge -- emphasis on extra. Come for the va-va-voom holiday cape, stay for the shimmering hotpants dance.
