Samuel L. Jackson has issued his own challenge to the celebrities who took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge this summer as a way to raise awareness about another important cause.
On Saturday, the actor posted a video to his Facebook page in which he sings a song that was sung during demonstrations in New York over the weekend to protest the recent killings of unarmed black men, including Michael Brown and Eric Garner, by white police officers.
"All you celebrities out there who poured ice water on your head, here's a chance to do something else," he said. "I challenge all of you to sing the 'We Ain't Gonna Stop Till People are Free' song."
A sampling of the lyrics include the lines: "I can hear my neighbour crying, 'I can't breathe.'/Now I'm in the struggle and I can't leave/Calling out the violence of the racist police/We ain't gonna stop until people are free."
