Barbara Walters issued an apology on Wednesday's The View for a much-maligned ABC News promo that compared her upcoming 20/20 special on adoption to a reality contest. The spot said five couples would "compete" to adopt a 16-year-old's baby. "You know what the bad word was? Compete," she said. "We made a mistake."
