Jennifer Aniston have broken up after four months of dating, multiple sources have confirmed. "They had a great time together but they are just in different places in their lives right now," a source told to

People. Britain's The Mirror first broke the news, revealing that the Grammy-winning crooner initiated the split with his lady- Friend earlier this week. The news comes just a week after reports flew that the couple was considering walking down the aisle later this year. Mayer, 30, and Aniston, 39, hooked up in April in Miami, where the actress was filming the comedy, Marley & Me, often captured splashing around in the hotel pool together. Earlier this summer, Aniston tagged along on Mayer's European tour to support her man. Reps for the stars have declined to comment on the break-up. But maybe the split is not permanent - a friend of Mayer's added that the two could very well get back together. "He never ends things with a clean slate," the pal told People. "He likes to dwell on these relationships and sort everything out before saying goodbye for good." Mayer had previously dated Vanessa Carlton, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jessica Simpson, while Aniston was married to new dad Brad Pitt and dated Vince Vaughn and British model Paul Sculfor. - Joyce Eng
