Trump Is Bumping Your Favorite Shows on Tuesday

Update (Jan. 8 at 12:15 p.m. EST): Congressional Democratic leaders have responded to Trump's decision to address the nation about the supposed border "crisis" by demanding equal airtime to deliver their own message to the American people just after Trump's speech.

In a statement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that they will be teaming up to deliver a message that will dispel any "malice and misinformation" that might be contained in Trump's live address, and so far, several networks have agreed to air their segment. After experiencing intense backlash over the initial decision to give Trump unbridled airtime, ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC are all now expected to feature the Democrats' rebuttal in real-time, as are the cable networks Fox News, Fox Business, MSNBC and CNN.

Previously (Jan. 7 at 8:36 p.m. EST): If you were looking forward to watching the newest episode of black-ish or The Giftedon Tuesday evening, you'll have to figure out something else to watch instead. President Donald Trump will be addressing the nation to discuss what he calls a "humanitarian and national security crisis," therefore bumping all your favorite shows from the 9 p.m. hour on the four main broadcast networks -- ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. Additionally, Fox News, Fox Business, MSNBC and CNN will also carry the prime-time address.

CBS was the first broadcast network to say it would carry the President's speech from the Oval Office; networks are not required to grant to a president's request for airtime. In addition to black-ish and The Gifted, Trump's speech will also bump new episodes of FBI, Splitting Up Togetherand Ellen's Game of Games.

Trump announced his speech in a tweet Monday morning, writing, "I am pleased to inform you that I will Address the Nation on the Humanitarian and National Security crisis on our Southern Border. Tuesday night at 9:00 P.M. Eastern." It's expected that Trump will made good on his threat to declare a state of emergency so he can build a wall on the country's southern border. We're currently entering the third week of a government shutdown.
