Mel Gibson is leaving

The Passion of the Christ's Oscar chances up to a higher power. According to Variety, Gibson has chosen not to spend a dime on Oscar ad campaigning. "At the end of the day, films should be judged on the merits," says Gibson's producing partner, Bruce Davey, "not on how big your pockets are or how elaborate the campaign is." In response, God issued the following statement: "At the very least take a page out in Variety, guys."
