Calling all Captain Hook fans! Once Upon a Time's Colin O'Donoghue has booked his next TV role, so prepare to start thirsting over his newest character, who's a voyager of a different kind!

Deadline reports that Nat Geo has chosen O'Donoghue to star as one of the leads in its upcoming seriesThe Right Stuff, based on Tom Wolfe's best-selling novel. O'Donoghue will portray Lt. Gordon Cooper, who piloted the last and longest Mercury spaceflight in 1963, a role that originally belonged to Game of Thrones' Joe Dempsie. Dempsie reportedly had to drop out of the project due to visa issues. He'll star alongside Suits' Patrick J. Adams, who will play Major John Glenn, and Limitlessstar Jake McDorman, who has been cast as Alan Shepard.

The series takes place in the United States at the height of the Cold War and follows the nation's thrilling Space Race with the Soviets. The astronauts of the Mercury Project, known as the Mercury Seven, became instant celebrities as the world waited to see who would become the first man in space.

The Right Stuff is expected to debut in 2020.
