Olympics: USA Beats Russia in Overtime Hockey Shootout
USA defeated rival team Russia Saturday in a dramatic overtime shootout. With the teams tied 2-2 at the end of regulation, American T.J. Oshie scored four times on six tries, giving the U.S. victory. Europe dominated the women's super-G, but ultimately it was Anna Fenninger of Austria who won gold. She finished the event, which is a hybrid of downhill and slalom, in 1:25.52. Germany's Maria Hoefl-Riesch followed, at 1:26.07. Then Nicole Hosp of Austria with 1:26.18.
In the women's 4-by-5-kilometer relay, Sweden topped the podium with a finish of 53:02.7. Finland earned silver with a time of 53:03.2. The bronze medal went to Germany, who was only 0.4 seconds behind Finland.
Viktor Ahn, who was a decorated Olympian for his native South Korea, won Russia's first gold medal in speed-skating when he won the men's 1,000 meter. Ahn finished at 1:25.325, followed by Russia's Vladimir Grigorev at 1:25.399. Sjinkie Knegt of the Netherlands earned bronze, finishing at 1:25.611.
In the women's 1,500 meter, defending champion China's Zhou Yang won her second consecutive gold with a time of 2:19.140. Korea's Shim Suk-hee was on her heels, finished at 2:19.239. Arianna Fontana joined them on the podium with a finish time of 2:19.416.
In the men's 1500 meter, Zbigniew Brodka of Poland and Koen Verweij of the Netherlands both finished at 1:45, but the judges determined Brodka to have won by 0.003. Canada's Denny Morrison won bronze, finishing 0.22 behind.

Kamil Stoch of Poland won his second gold medal in the ski jumping large-hill event, with a score of 278.7. He was joined on the podium by Japan's Noriaki Kasai and Slovenia's Peter Prevc, who had scores of 277.4 and 274.8, respectively.
Russia's Alexander Tretiakov won gold in men's skeleton, finishing in 3:44.29. Latvia's Martins Dukurs settled for silver again, with a time of 3:45.10. USA's Matthew Antoine earned bronze with his time of 3.47.26.
