I realize you have no way of verifying this, but right now I have a big ol' smile on my face. This is the first time in a long time that I actually enjoyed an entire
episode of The O.C.
I'm serious. Taylor acted normal! College talk made for some very credible angst. Seth wants to go to Brown on the East Coast, Summer wants to stick with a West Coast school, and neither wants to compromise. But then Summer showed some major depth and practically broke my heart when she told Taylor, "you can have him." Summer was feeling way insecure about Seth being around all these smart kids and was afraid that she would lose him to some brainy college girl. Finally, she decided to take Taylor's advice and try the near-to-Brown school, Providence College. I wish Seth had wavered a little bit and even given Berkeley an ounce of thought. It would have made his dad happy. And by the way, Sandy again proved why he is just the coolest dad on the planet.
I didn't even mind Marissa so much. Having her still deal with shooting Trey and her dad hightailing it out of town was refreshing to me. Coming to an epiphany that she and Ryan need to stop blaming themselves for everything (including Bizarro Ryan getting hit by a speeding car) was a mature step for her.
Other than the cuteness of Summer and Seth and Ryan actually cracking a smile, nay a guffaw, the Kirsten-Julie Cooper-Nichol action was probably my favorite part. Julie's actually drove her own U-Haul! I never thought I'd see that. Julie moving back to a trailer park. Never thought I'd see that either. Watching Kirsten and Julie overcome Charlotte's Web? Loved it. Can't wait to see what business those two cook up together.
