Two newspaper scribes have been tapped to pen a new pilot for HBO.

Carl Hiaasen, Miami Herald columnist and best-selling author, along with The New York Daily News' sports columnist-author Mike Lupica are teaming on a pilot script for the yet-to-be titled HBO series, reports Variety.

The show will be about a Florida-based pro golfer forced to enter the witness protection program.

Why would Hiaasen choose Florida to set his golfer-come-witness show? He told Variety, "We thought Florida was a great backdrop to superimpose seedy freaks and scumbags, something that appealed to me instantly because they have generated the inspiration for so much of my work."

If you've ever read any of Hiaasen's fiction, you can be assured this show will be one sick, twisted and hilarious ride.
