Ummm.... talk about an overshare

Nathan Fillion's character in his new ABC show The Rookie isn't what we'd call a baller, but apparently he hangs out with them?

In an exclusive new promo for The Rookie, partnering with the NFL to promote the return of college football, Fillion has a little bit of an overshare moment with past NFL rookies and Heisman Trophy winners Eddie George and Marcus Allen. While they're busy trading stories about their times in the 40-yard dash, John Nolan (Fillion) is busy reminiscing about his "Big 4-0," you know, when he got divorced, had a mid-life crisis and decided to become the oldest rookie cop in LAPD history. Talk about awkward.

Much like his new NFL buddies, you can expect most of the people in John Nolan's life to react with some pretty serious skepticism when he announces his decision to trade in his lifetime of experience in construction for a police badge after helping stop a bank heist in The Rookie premiere. Who knows though, he may turn out to be a surprise MVP? Is there a cop version of the Heisman?

Everything to Know About Nathan Fillion's The Rookie

The Rookie premieres Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 9/8c on ABC.
