The Biz: Governor Mitt Romney Reveals His Favorite TV Shows

The electorate may be deeply divided, but the two candidates running for president share common ground on their favorite TV show. Both President Barack Obama and his opponent Governor Mitt Romney told TV Guide Magazine that Modern Family is the show they most enjoy watching with their wives. President Obama told us about his TV preferences and pop culture habits in the current issue of TV Guide Magazine. Mr. Romney's campaign missed our print deadline, but here are his answers to our questionnaire.
TV Guide Magazine: What are your favorite current TV shows?
Romney: My favorite shows are Modern Family, Justified, 30 Rock and NCIS. And although it recently ended, I've really enjoyed Friday Night Lights.

TV Guide Magazine: And Ann Romney's favorite?
Romney: Ann loves Modern Family too — it's our favorite show to watch together.

TV Guide Magazine: What is your favorite feature film?
Romney: My favorite movie is O Brother, Where Art Thou?

TV Guide Magazine: Do you remember the first film you and Ann watched together?
Romney: Our very first date was back in 1965, when we went to a small movie theater in Birmingham, Michigan, to watch The Sound of Music. 

TV Guide Magazine: What classic TV series do you have the fondest childhood memories of watching?
Romney: Growing up, I loved TV shows about the Old West, like Gunsmoke, Have Gun, Will Travel, and The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.

TV Guide Magazine: What televised news event that had a lasting impact on you?
Romney: I will never forget watching Neil Armstrong take those first steps on the moon. Ann and I watched together on her parents' sofa. Like all Americans, we went to bed knowing we lived in the greatest country in the history of the world.

TV Guide Magazine: Is there a sporting event that is appointment viewing for you?
Romney: I love all of Boston's legendary teams: the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. And, every two years, we are glued to the Olympics. Our experience with the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics was a special time. It is inspiring to see the commitment and talent of the young athletes who compete from across the globe.

TV Guide Magazine: What devices other than a conventional TV do you and Ann use to watch a program or movie?
Romney: We always have our iPads and iPhones on the campaign trail.

TV Guide Magazine: Who is in charge of programming the DVR in the Romney home?
Romney: I program the DVR to record whatever Ann tells me we are going to watch!

TV Guide Magazine: Who decided what the Romney children watched when they were growing up?
Romney: Ann and I usually encouraged the boys to spend their time outside playing. When, they did watch television, they loved watching sports, Magnum P.I., The Cosby Show, Seinfeldand Cheers, to name a few. And, when they were much younger, they loved Transformers. It was always fun to watch with them.
