Brock Peters, best known for playing falsely accused rapist Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird, died on Aug. 23 after a battle with pancreatic cancer; he was 78. Peters' career began in the '50s with the films Carmen Jones and Porgy and Bess. Most recently, he played Admiral Cartwright in two Star Trek films and lent his voice to animated series.
