Melissa McCarthy Replaces Steve Harvey as Little Big Shots Host

When NBC's Little Big Shots returns midseason, we'll once again be treated to a slew of adorable children doing damn impressive things -- but they'll be interacting with a new host. Heading into the fourth season, Melissa McCarthy is replacing previous host Steve Harvey.

During NBC's Upfronts conference call on Sunday, network executives hinted that McCarthy's Little Big Shots will actually be a new version of the show, though they didn't elaborate just how it will differ from Harvey's version. Paul Telegdy, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, did note that McCarthy "is a strong creative force with her own ideas, and changes will be apparent." He teased that she'll be finding some new "fun" things to do with the show.

Little Big Shots, which premiered in 2016 with Harvey as host, has seen a steady decline in viewership over the past three years. Hopefully, the addition of McCarthy gives the show some new life. This also marks McCarthy's first time joining NBC in any sort of regular role, even though you'd think she'd have her own residence in 30 Rock already considering how many time she's stopped by Saturday Night Live.

It's unclear if Harvey will continue to have any involvement in Little Big Shots going forward, as he and Ellen DeGeneres co-created the project.

Little Big Shots is expected to return in spring 2020.
