Just shy of 30 million total viewers tuned in for Tuesday night's "ladies first" round of American Idol semifinalists, handily triple-lutzing past the first two hours of NBC's prime-time Olympics coverage, which averaged 22.7 mil viewers. (On a side note, was Paula under the weather or is HDTV just unkind to her? I digress.) However, once Ryan reminded us of the text-voting process a 73rd and final time, and Idol had bowed out for the night, the Winter Games surged in the 10 o'clock hour with 28.4 million viewers. Tonight, it's Ace versus women's speed skating!
