It's better to give than to receive, and that's exactly what Lauren Conrad did.

After picking up a surfboard for Choice TV Female Reality/Variety Star at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, the Hills star gave it away to someone she felt was the "real winner": Pat Pedraja, a Do Something Award nominee and leukemia patient.

"Pat since I think you are the real winner of the night I wanted to give you my surfboard," Conrad wrote in an e-mail. "Stay strong and let's keep in touch. Love, Lauren."

That's not all the 22-year-old gave her new friend, whom she first met at Do Something's official Teen Choice pre-party. Pedraja also received an iPod Touch with Conrad's favorite tunes, People reports.

The 13-year-old was up for Do Something's $100,000 prize for establishing Driving for Donors, a cross-country bone marrow donor search he and his mom go on in their "Donormobile."

Pedraja did not win - the award was announced during the Teen Choice telecast - but that disappointment dissipated thanks to Conrad's generous gesture.

"I hope that one day I can make someone feel as good about themselves as Lauren Conrad made me feel," he wrote on Do Something's blog. "Shouldn't we all want to make someone else feel great if we can. Come on celebrities, make someone's day! It will make you feel good too!"

LC will try to make someone else's day at another award show next month. After launching her casual clothing collection, Conrad will turn her attention to eveningwear as she is set to whip up a design for the trophy girls at the Primetime Emmys.

"I am so excited that the Academy has asked me to design a dress for this year's Emmy Awards," she said. "I will be doing a red carpet look that still reflects the simple classic design of the Lauren Conrad Collection but with a black tie twist."

Unfortunately for us everyday folk, the gown will not be up for sale in the Lauren Conrad Collection. - Joyce Eng
