Academy Award nominee Kathryn Bigelow's next project will bring her to the small screen: The Hurt Locker director has been tapped to make an HBO pilot, The Miraculous Year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by two-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator), the story will focus on a New York family as seen through the eyes of a self-destructive Broadway composer. The project has been given a pilot order and will begin production in the spring.

Miraculous Year with Logan and Lydia Pilcher, has rarely worked in television, with only a handful of directing credits for Homicide: Life on the Street, Karen Sisco and the miniseries Wild Palms.The Miraculous Year marks the first TV pilot for the 58-year-old filmmaker, who's seen as a strong candidate to become the first woman to win the directing Oscar next month.Bigelow's next film project is the South America-set drama Triple Frontier, which will re-team her with The Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal.
