Get ready to see plenty of John Barrowman's (Arrow) handsome face this fall. The actor has signed a new, unusual contract with Warner Bros. Television that will allow him to appear in all of The CW's superhero shows as a series regular, according to TVLine.

Specifically, what this means is Barrowman — who became part of Arrow's main cast starting in Season 3 and was recurring before — can bring his character Malcolm Merlyn to The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which all share the same universe with Arrow and are all executive produced by Greg Berlanti. However, it does not guarantee that Barrowman will appear in all of them. The deal is similar to the one that Wentworth Miller, who plays Captain Cold in Legends of Tomorrow, signed in May.

The best TV cliffhangers of 2016 (so far).

The CW has experimented with several crossovers with its superhero shows, including a successful cross-network mashup between The Flash and CBS' Supergirl, another Berlanti series. (Supergirl will be moving over to The CW beginning next season.) Signing actors to deals like Miller's and Barrowman's makes further crossovers easier to pull off and is a sign that more are on the way, like the previously announced four-way crossover between Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl.

In The CW's DC universe, Barrowman plays Malcolm Merlyn, one of Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) many enemies on Arrow, but with whom Queen also has a complicated frenemy relationship with. Merlyn is no stranger to crossovers, as he previously appeared in the Arrow-Flash crossover last December.
