The Americans Showrunners' Next Project Will Be Waaaaaay Different

It takes place far from Mother Russia

I have mad respect for Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, the two creative geniuses behind FX's The Americans. That show will be looked at over time as one of television's all-time greats, punctuated by a finale that I called perfect, and that's not a word I casually throw around. (I say Pitch Okay or Felix Hernandez threw a pretty good game if it gives you any indication.)

So naturally I've been looking forward to their next project, whatever it would be. A terrorism drama? A dark look at family secrets? Another series examining a critical time in world history? A coming-of-age rodeo drama set at Freeform? Well guess which one they're doing.

The Americans: Here's What (Probably) Happened to Everyone After the Finale

Fields and Weisberg will executive produce Breckman Rodeo, a drama pilot that's set up at Freeform. The series comes from Steve Lerner and is set in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It follows an up-and-coming rodeo star and her rodeoing boyfriend as they take on the traditional values of the sport with their millennial ideals, contemplate superstardom and probably have all those romantic entanglements common in the network's other dramas.

The Americans duo has earned the benefit of the doubt, so I'll be following this one closely.
