Jason Ritter is bringing his talents to another family drama series.
The Parenthood alum has joined the cast of ABC's A Million Little Things in a recurring guest role that will span several episodes of Season 2, TV Guide has confirmed. The news was first reported by TV Line, which revealed that he'll be portraying someone in Patricia's (Melora Hardin) life who "upends everything."
Patricia is, of course, the mother of Maggie (Allison Miller), who has just moved in with Gary (James Roday) after finding out her cancer is in remission as of Season 1's finale. Maggie and Patricia's strained relationship was a subplot in the first season, as Maggie faced uncertainties about her health.
Ritter will no doubt be a familiar face for TV fans. He is also known for his turns as Kevin Girardi in Joan of Arcadia, Mark Cyr in Parenthood, and Kevin Finn in Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. He has also appeared in several episodes of Drunk History and HBO's Girls, and he voiced the character Dipper Pines for Gravity Falls. He will soon be seen in the TV mini-series Quest and Netflix's Raising Dion.
TV Line also reports that, in addition to Ritter's arrival and Melora Hardin's return to the role of Patricia, A Million Little Things fans can also expect to see Chandler Riggs come back as PJ, Drea de Matteo reprise her role as the no-longer-mysterious Barbara, and James Tupper returning as Andrew in Season 2.
A Million Little Things Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9/8c.
