HBO is developing a comedy starring Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon, Deadline reports. The untitled project comes from Simpsons writer-producer Tim Long and will focus on Shannon as a nun who decides to leave the convent for the outside world.

"It's James Joyce meets Judd Apatow — a female 40-Year-Old Virgin with a huge dollop of Catholic weirdness thrown in," Long said. "It'll also be a serious look at a woman who's 40 but emotionally still in her teens and who needs to get wise very quickly."
Shannon is familiar with portraying quirky Catholic characters: She invented and played awkward Catholic school girl Mary Katherine Gallagher on SNL.
