Fox Executive Defends 24's Troubled Season

Fox entertainment chairman Peter Liguori defended the producers of 24 from the critical dings they took over the past season, which is considered by fans, TV writers — and Emmy voters — as the show’s worst year creatively. He told the Television Critics Association press tour that he doesn’t think the show would benefit from a “bible” that maps out where the story is going from start to finish — rather than the make-it-up-as-they-go style the producers have confessed to. “I feel like part of the high-wire act is their process,” Liguori said. "It's a little bit like war strategy, I guess. You have a big strategy, the first bullet goes off, the war strategy goes out the window. I actually think that energy has served them well on the show.” — Reporting by Stephen Battaglio
