Is Nathan Fillion Staging a Small Firefly Revival on American Housewife?

Let's examine the evidence

Megan Vick

Nathan Fillion is going to guest star on American Housewifein two upcoming episodes this season -- but are we going to get some Firefly action as well?

ABC posted the first photo of Fillion on set hugging series stars Katy Mixon and Meg Donnelly, but if you look closely at his attire he's waring the same jacket Mal Reynolds used to sport on Firefly, the short-lived Joss Whedon sci-fi drama. Firefly aired on Fox for one season in 2005, though the story continued in the film Serenity later on. Check out the photo for yourself.

The network confirms that Fillion is playing himself in the upcoming episodes so we don't think that Mal will actually show up, but perhaps Katie (Mixon) and Taylor (Donnelly) are visiting Fillion at a Firefly convention? The set also looks like they're on a ship, Serenity, perhaps?

This isn't the first time ABC has staged a Firefly shout-out. Fillion had several of his former cast mates come to play with him during his eight-season tenure on Castle. This could be them taking it one step further.

American Housewife airs Wednesdays at 9:30/8:30c on ABC. More info about Fillion's episodes is coming soon.
