Nick puts the whole school on lockdown
The Fosters takes on school shootings and gun violence in its two-part Season 4 premiere later this month, and TVGuide.com has the first look photos of a harrowing scene, in which a SWAT has Anchor Beach on lockdown.
The drama, which sadly mirrors an all-too-familiar ritual across the country, picks up seconds after last season's finale when Nick (Louis Hunter) caught his girlfriend Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) kissing another guy and brings a gun to school in retaliation.
"It's really pretty harrowing," executive producer Joanna Johnson tells TVGuide.com. "It's something that's happening so much it's almost becoming normal. It almost seems like a weekly occurrence that someone is taking a gun to school. We wanted to explore what the impact of this has on our schools and has on our kids."
The Fosters tragedy will affect Callie and Jude in different ways
The ramifications of Nick's actions will echo throughout the season as everyone attempts to deal with the threat -- especially Mariana who is at the center of the drama
"The first two episodes of the season a different look and a different feel. We're trying to push the envelope of the vibe of our show," she says. "It's very intense and dramatic and I'm really proud of these episodes."
