Fab news in Sudsville! Actress Eileen Davidson, who is currently kicking ass as evil fruitcake Kristen DiMera on NBC's Days of Our Lives, will return to her former role as heroine Ashley Abbott on CBS' The Young and the Restless. Look for her to hit the air March 18. So far Davidson is set for two or three episodes in Genoa City, all timed to the Victor-Nikki wedding and the soap's 40th anniversary. Are there more appearances to come? Davidson gave TV Guide Magazine the exclusive scoop.

TV Guide Magazine: Can we safely assume that Sony, which oversees both Days and Y&R, made this magic happen between the networks?
Davidson: Yes, Sony worked it all out and it's been terrific! I got a phone call quite a few weeks ago asking if I'd be willing to come back to Y&R for a few days and did I want to think about it? I was, like, "Think about it? I don't need to think. Of course, I'll come back!" When [Y&R head writer] Josh Griffith spoke to you last summer he let it be known that he was sorry I was gone and that he wanted me to return. But, really, what were the chances?

TV Guide Magazine: After playing five roles at the same time during your previous stint on Days, two should be a breeze!
Davidson: [Laughs] A walk in the park! And compared to Kristen, Ashley is so much more stable. She's kind of a relief, really. Like slipping on some comfortable old shoes. There's been a big changing of the guard since I left Y&R and everyone was so welcoming. [CBS Daytime chief] Angelica McDaniel came down to the set and so did Josh and [Y&R exec producer] Jill Farren Phelps. They all made a point of telling me how great it was to have me back. Things seem to be working out really well there. There's an incredible vibrancy on the set.

TV Guide Magazine: Do you think they're testing the waters? Might this soap-hopping thing happen for you on a regular basis?
Davidson: I really don't know. That certainly crossed my mind. I think it would be great to somehow be able to do both but we'll see. Though Ashley's there for Victor and Nikki's wedding she's not just sitting in a pew. She's right back in the mix of things and getting involved in her brother Jack's life. She's very concerned about him.

TV Guide Magazine: Yeah, so concerned she didn't bother to show up when he was going through his addiction crisis!
Davidson: And Phyllis really nails Ashley for that! "Where were you?" I also have scenes with Eric Braeden [Victor], Billy Miller [Billy] and Marcy Ryan [Abby]. So I'm making the rounds! We kind of lost the Abbott family for a while there but it's established that they're all still really bonded. It's an instant rapport. It doesn't feel like the family was split apart and the show is now trying to pull it back together. Instead, it plays like Ashley's just been out of town and now she's back and the clan is stronger than ever, which is a beautiful thing.

TV Guide Magazine: I know you were smarting when Sony took you off Y&R and essentially traded you to Days. But now that you've taken Salem by storm all over again, wasn't that a good thing?
Davidson: I am so thrilled things worked out the way they did. I've already been at Days for seven and a half months now and I'm having a blast. The people are amazing, the part is terrific, and now to be back on Y&R, too, well...who could have predicted this? [Laughs] My magical mystery tour continues!
