Note the time, enter it in the log and remember this as the day Drake saved music.
The rapper, who's been beefing with Pusha T over the last few weeks, delivered the one thing that could make us forget all about that alleged secret baby: a true Degrassi reunion. That's right, all your Degrassi: The Next Generation faves came together (on location where they filmed the actual series!!!) for his new music video "I'm Upset," and it might be the greatest thing to ever grace the internet. Seriously, I dare you to think of something that comes even close to this. (And whatever you're about to suggest, don't even bother, because you're WRONG.)
At first, "I'm Upset" seems like your typical music video: Drake wakes up next to a gorgeous woman on a bed in the middle of the Toronto Raptors' basketball court — he's a proud Canadian, after all — but then goes shopping for the high school reunion we've been waiting YEARS to see. What comes next is a series of moments that can only be described by inhuman noises which have no literal translation.
Raise your hand if you literally gasped when Spinner (Shane Kippel) burst through those grey curtains in his James Bond suit looking ready for trouble?
Or when Paige (Lauren Collins), Marco (Adamo Ruggiero), Craig (Jake Epstein) and Ellie (Stacey Farber) pulled up to the high school in that insanely luxurious (and expensive) white car? Congrats on inventing Post-Its, I guess.
Did you ever think you'd see Liberty (Sarah Barrable-Tishauer), Mia (Nina Dobrev), Emma (Miriam McDonald), Spinner (Kippel), Principal Simpson (Stefan Brogren), Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) dropping some fierce moves in the hallway?
It's also great to see Manny (Cassie Steele), Terri (Christina Schmidt), Hazel (Andrea Lewis), Ashley (Melissa McIntyre), Ms. Kwan (Linlyn Lue), Toby (Jake Goldsbie), Jane (Paula Brancati) and Connor (A.J. Saudin) alive and well. However, the most shocking cameo goes to Rick (Ephraim Ellis) who is seen being chased through the halls. Remember when he shot Jimmy?
But there's one glaring absence that can't be ignored: J.T. Yorke (Ryan Cooley)! Was he sleeping? In the bathroom? Hiding out in his old locker? Or was he still too into oatmeal to appreciate this debauchery? (Update: According to Drake, Cooley thought the entire reunion "was a scam.")
Either way, this video is exactly what we needed to see. Bonus points for dropping some throwback credits at the end of the video — a perfect way to end a nearly perfect video. If you're looking for a great pick-me-up, this will more than do the trick.
