Beyonce Knowles — the Destiny's Child singer who is up for five Grammy Awards — will make her acting debut in the MTV original film, Carmen: A Hip Hopera, described as an urban retelling of the classic opera. The movie — which will be directed by Robert Townsend — co-stars Mekhi Phifer (Clockers) and will also feature appearances by rappers Lil Bow Wow and Mos Def. Townsend told reporters at the Television Critics Association that he's not ruling out cameos by Knowles's Destiny's Child singing mates.
