In Designated Survivor, President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) added another set of doubters and enemies to his laundry list of names last week when audio of his therapy sessions were leaked to the public, who in turn will probably respond with outcry by those uncomfortable with people seeking professional help, especially those who are sitting presidents. But one group that's been loyal to Kirkman through thick and thin is his immediate inner circle... though that might not last much longer!

"There will be several cliffhangers [in the Season 2 finale], one of which will involve the possibility that somebody who we would never expect, who is in the president's orbit, is a traitor," showrunner Keith Eisner tells TV Guide. "One of the bits of intrigue at the end of the episode is the suggestion that somebody has been working aggressively against him over the course of these past two seasons, and potentially was working with people who are enemies of the White House. It's big."

Designated Survivor: Kiefer Sutherland Is Confident We'll Get a Season 3

Oh no! Looking at the potential candidates -- Emily (Italia Ricci), Seth (Kal Penn) and Aaron (Adan Canto) -- it's hard to believe that anyone could stab Kirkman in the back like that. If Eisner's clue of "over the course of these past two seasons" extends to people working off-screen before we met them, the list of suspects grows to include Lyor (Paulo Costanzo), Kendra (Zoe McLellan) and others. However, even they have fallen for Kirkman's steadfast beliefs and morality, leaving us to wonder who the traitor could possibly be.

But there's one thing there that can hopefully put us at ease. Eisner was careful with his words, saying "the possibility" or "the suggestion," meaning the so-called traitor may be part of a set up and isn't conspiring at all. Either way, suspicions will be cast when Kirkman needs his team working together the most.

Designated Survivor airs Wednesday nights at 10/9c on ABC. The Season 2 finale is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16.
