He said he'd be back, and now he is: Craig Ferguson has landed the lead role in ABC's new comedy pilot The King of 7B, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The single-camera ensemble comedy follows an agoraphobic recluse named Prentiss (Ferguson) who leaves the safety of his home for the first time in 11 years after watching his potential soul mate move in across the street.

TV Scorecard: What's returning? What's canceled?

The role is a return to acting for Ferguson, and his first big career move since signing off as the host of The Late Late Show in December. He previously appeared on The Drew Carey Show for eight seasons in the late '90s and early '00s.

Executive-produced by Dan Fogelman (The Neighbors, Galavant), the series also stars Carla Jimenez as Juana, Prentiss' housekeeper, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Greta, a woman who delivers art to Prentiss' home.
