Box Office: Fifty Shades of Grey Ticket Sales Plummet

But which new release flopped?

Ticket sales for Fifty Shades of Grey experienced a nearly 75 percent drop-off in the movie's second week in theaters, but the erotic adaptation still managed to retain the No. 1 spot at the box office with $23.2 million, Box Office Mojo reports.

Kingsman: The Secret Service and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water also held steady at Nos. 2 and 3, with $17.5 and $15.5 million, respectively.

McFarland, USA opened in fourth place with $11.3 million. It just edged out fellow newcomer The DUFF, which landed at No. 5 with $11 million.

American Sniperfell two spots to No. 6 with $9.6 million.

The weekend's other new release, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, flopped, earning just $5.8 million for a seventh-place finish.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Jupiter Ascending (No. 8, $3.6 million), The Imitation Game(No. 9, $2.5 million) and Paddington (No. 10, $2.3 million).
