The Bold and the Beautiful'sCaroline Spencer has gone from wholesome heroine to whack-job villainess faster than the rest of us change socks — but actress Linsey Godfrey thinks her character's out-of-nowhere personality transplant is completed justified.
"I know a lot of the fans find it strange but I've decided this is the way Caroline has always been — a real pain in the ass," Godfrey tells TV Guide Magazine. "When she first came to town a year ago, she was sweet as pie and pretty vanilla. She literally had no opinions about anything! But that was all an act. The truth is, she's a bitch...but a very funny one."
Caroline went off the deep end when her rich beau Rick (Jacob Young) started losing interest in their relationship and took up with former skid-row denizen Maya (Karla Mosley). Caroline attempted to blackmail Maya to get her out of the picture. She even tried to push her into the porn business. Now, she's so frustrated and desperate to get back in Rick's good graces, she's reclaiming her sainthood.
"Caroline decides to throw a fashion-show fundraiser for cancer research to prove she's still the good person Rick fell in love with," Godfrey says. "To make sure there's lots of eye candy on the runaway, she gets all our hot guys to take off their shirts and model bedroom wear. I felt so bad for the actors. They had to be in great shape, so they couldn't eat for a week!"
The big event, airing May 3, "turns out just awesome," Godfrey reports. "Rick is really touched by Caroline's vulnerability and impressed by her charitable heart. He gets a glimpse of the Caroline that used to be and it makes him really happy."
But is he fool enough to fall for her scheme and take her back?
