This is a pretty manageable Netflix week. There's one major TV release (the final season of Orange Is the New Black, one of the definitive Netflix series), one major movie release (The Red Sea Diving Resort, an exciting drama starring a high-ranking Chris), and a lower-key mix of the usual foreign films, kids' shows, comedy specials, and curiosities. (There's this French movie called Girls With Balls that looks extremely nutty, even by the standards of random Netflix releases). If you own stock in Netflix, you're probably unhappy with the company this week. But if you're just browsing, things look great!

The Biggest Releases

Orange Is the New Black, Season 7
Orange Is the New Black may not be good anymore, but at its peak, it was a tremendously important, groundbreaking show, both for representation of marginalized people on TV and for Netflix as a place where those kinds of stories could be told. There weren't a lot of shows like Orange Is the New Black when it started. It launched a lot of careers, inspired a lot of people, and provided a lot of cathartic laughs along the way. If you're a fan, you might just wanna watch Season 7 for completeness' sake.

The Red Sea Diving Resort
Chris Evans stars in this inspiring based-on-a-true-story movie about a group of people who smuggled refugees out of Ethiopia during a civil war via the titular abandoned hotel. It sort of feels like Argo but more serious, and Evans grew long, flowing hair and a beard to play a late '70s/early '80s Mossad agent. If you need more persuading, the cast also includes Michael K. Girls With Balls
The French are a people with a warped sense of humor and a penchant for making abnormally gruesome horror movies. Those two strains converge in this goofy and violent movie about a women's volleyball team that gets stranded in the woods and chased by depraved hunters. Their only weapons are their bodies and their volleyballs. Weird stuff, but it looks fun!

Boi
You might get a Baby Driver kind of vibe from this Spanish movie about a young chauffeur who is tasked with driving a shady pair of Chinese businessmen around Barcelona. Misadventures ensue, and Boi (his name is Boi) finds himself at a crossroads in life. (Trailer)

My First First Love, Season 2
You never forget falling in love for the first time, and this light Korean romantic drama will give you those feels. (Trailer)

The Son
An artist's life spirals out of control when his wife keeps him away from his newborn son with the help of her mysterious associates in this psychological thriller from Argentina. I smell a third act twist! (Trailer)

Sugar Rush, Season 2
Incredibly gifted bakers compete against an incredibly stressful time restriction (and each other) in this confectionery competition show. It's baking with a shot clock, and it's a lot of fun. The prize is only $10k, though? Pony up, Netflix! (Trailer)

The Worst Witch, Season 3
Game of Thrones' Bella Ramsey stars as Mildred -- who by Season 3 you'd think would at least be a passable witch -- in this Potteresque British series set at the prestigious magical school Cackle's Academy. This season, Mildred's mother is joining Cackle's faculty (Cacklety, lol) as the first non-witch teacher, which of course leads to all sorts of magical complications. (Trailer)

Whitney Cummings: Can I Touch It?
Remember when Whitney Cummings was hired to be co-showrunner/liberal voice of reason on the Roseanne revival, and then she quit after the first season, before it fell apart because of a racist tweet? She dodged a bullet on that one! Kudos to Cummings for not abandoning stand-up after she became a successful TV producer, though. (Tuesday, July 30 / Trailer)

Kengan Ashura, Part 1
This anime is as close as TV is ever going to get to watching someone play Street Fighter. Just video game-style hand-to-hand fights. (Wednesday, July 31 / Trailer)

The Letdown, Season 2
