Ben Affleck has been largely mum since his 10-year marriage to Jennifer Garner ended - even as he dogged rumors that he cheated with his kids' nanny. But now, a month after Garner spoke about their breakup in Vanity Fair, theBatman v Superman star opened up to the New York Times about their divorce.

"Jen's great," he told the Times. "She's a great person." Affleck said his ex-wife is "allowed to talk about it" and that their public appearances aren't PR. "We're on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so that's the reality that I live in." They plan to vacation as a family during the filming of Justice League, he said.

Of course, he talked about the movie too. Batman, he said, is "living in this gray zone," adding, "He's more broken, not slick. He's filling the hole in his soul with these increasingly morally questionable nighttime excursions — fighting crime as well as by being this playboy."

The actor said he's not a fan of always making protagonists likable. "I find that boring," he said. "Instead, I think it's interesting how we manage the best version of ourselves, despite our flaws and our weaknesses and our sometime tendencies to do the wrong thing." Sounds like there was a lot of art imitating life/life imitating art here, huh?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehits theaters March 25th.
