BAT'S ENTERTAINMENT

Although Batman Begins took in another $26.8 million, retaining the top spot at the box office, and Bewitched opened with a better-than-expected (by me, anyway) $20.2 million haul, overall ticket sales were still down for the 18th week in a row (the longest slump in 20 years). Perhaps some of the blame can be placed, if only for fun, on Lindsay Lohan, whose Herbie: Fully Loaded took in only $12.75 million, or George Romero, whose Land of the Dead scared up just $10.2 million. Whatever the case, Brangelina's Mr. & Mrs. Smith hung in there, stealing third with $16.75 million.
