Stephen Amell Says Oliver Will Channel His Inner Barry in the Arrowverse Crossover

The three-night Arrowverse crossover is just around the corner, and we now know enough to be confident about at least two things. One: It's going to be an awesome launch for the inevitable Batwoman series. Two: It's going to be the most fun thing to happen to you all year.

Thanks to Stephen Amell's on point social media game during the filming of the crossovers, we got a great peek at key details like Superman's black suit, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Oliver's matching gang outfits, and even Stephen Amell in the new Flash suit! In case you were worried about Amell getting slapped on the wrist for spoiling huge plot twists though, rest assured, Amell says all of it was totally by the book.

"Now, by the way, I wasn't going rogue. That was all designed based off of production schedule and the amount that we shot out on the street in the public," Amell told reporters on a recent set visit. "We always think that it's better for us to show people before they see a grainy photograph. So believe me when I tell you that was all by design."

Seeing as Oliver and Barry were running around on the street in each other's costumes (joined by John Wesley Shipp in his Flash costume no less), it definitely makes sense that The CW would greenlight some high quality photos to give fans a better look at the Freaky Friday swap coming in the crossover. Amell also teased that the suits won't be the only thing Barry and Oliver will be swapping! Apparently, we can expect to see very different sides to both heroes as they attempt to channel each others' personalities to better fit their new roles.

"Grant and I had a discussion very early on... that if this was going to work, that we really had to go for it, right?" Amell told reporters. "He has my learned abilities, and I have his superpowers, there are elements of each other's personality that each of us have to embrace in order to be successful at the mission that's in front of us. So every once in a while, I'm channeling my inner Barry Allen, and I'm looking at Grant after the take going [meekly] 'Is it too much?' But no, we had a blast."

Who wouldn't give every cent they own to watch Oliver's attempt to be a smiley, fun-loving superhero? More importantly, how hilarious is Barry going to look trying to be an intimidating vigilante who puts the fear of God in criminals?

It definitely feels like the element of fun that's so present in many of The CW's DC shows is going to play a huge role in this year's crossover.

"I wouldn't call it the most rewarding, but it was the most fun that I've had maybe ever throughout the course of doing the show," said Amell. "I think that the crossovers this year, even if we don't have as many DC characters necessarily as we did last year, this feels like the first time or at the very least the best example of us just embracing the fun of it all and embracing all of the opportunities that we have because of all of the things that we've had a chance to do over the years."

The three-night Arrowverse crossover begins Sunday, Dec. 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
