An unusual and well-done drama told within the simplest of forms. Barthelmess, playing an atypical role, is an elevator operator for a large hotel. He and Nixon, a hotel chambermaid, are found together in a guest's suite and charged with breaking and entering. As it turns out, they were

there for an important reason which gives the film a clever, O'Henry-style ending. This works like a cinematic version of a short story, told with excellent style and some fine performances by the leads. The small production never goes beyond its boundaries, making a fine tale about genuinely

human characters told with heart.
