New Zealander Geoff Murphy (UTU), the movie seems engineered so as never to let more than three minutes pass between long, noisy gunfights. Even Pat Garrett's shooting of Billy (Emilio Estevez), the closest the film comes to a dramatic climax, is thoroughly muddled. If you blink you'll miss it,
