In this often funny, though just as often tasteless, comedy from an unlikely source, Brian De Palma, Harry Valentini (Danny DeVito) and Moe Dickstein (Joe Piscopo) are best pals who live next door to each other in a seedy New Jersey row of tract houses. They both work in the lowest echelon

of the Mafia. One of their tasks is going to the track to bet on horses for their boss, Anthony Castelo (Dan Hedaya). Since Castelo's bets have been losers lately, Harry puts the $10,000 bet on a different horse, one he is positive will win. Of course, it doesn't, and the godfather is enraged.

Piscopo must have seen too many Jerry Lewis movies, because his gnawing on the scenery is unsurpassed, while DeVito does a fairly good job holding himself in check.
