Eccentric Horton and screen newcomer Campbell work on a newspaper, he as a stingy bookkeeper and she as a hard-as-nails reporter. One day, on vacation, Horton uncovers a kidnaping and phones the story in to his newspaper. He is ordered to stay on the job and keep the phone lines open to Campbell, who he happens to be crazy about. He is also given a $25,000 expense account, which he uses to sew up every means of communication around so that he can give his paper continuing scoops. He not only raises the paper's circulation, but cleans up on the crooks, and wins the Brenda Starr as well. Agreeable little story but without enough substance to send Campbell into orbit.
