It's 18th-century Rome, and Ferrari, an improverished chamber pot salesman, tries to raise some money by selling his young brother to the Vatican choir. However the brother escapes, and Ferrari must take his place. Since he doesn't have the beautiful high voice of his young brother,

Ferrari faces castration but bribes his way out of this most distressing predicament. He manages to talk his way into bed with girl friend Granta and then begins his choir training. The new job frustrates Ferrari until he finds it allows him entry into the homes of the affluent. The moneyed

husbands don't mind his presence, for they think he's minus a few essential parts, a fact Ferrari uses to his advantage. Once more he meets Granata, now a nobleman's wife. He gets her pregant and Granata's angered husband threatens to see that Ferrari is beheaded unless he can prove he is a

eunuch. He reluctantly goes for the operation, while his brothers hurry to rescue him. Some good bawdy fun in this off-the-wall Italian comedy. (In Italian; English subtitles.)
