Another musical screen-biography, this time the life of famed concert pianist Eileen Joyce that is trivialized to the point of banality. The film details the young girl's efforts to become a musician amidst the poverty of a Tasmanian mining town. To raise money, Parrett (who plays the

young Joyce) tries to collect money by playing the harmonica for bar patrons and miners. She soon endears herself to the community with her tireless ambition and talent. With the help of the miners, Parrett enters a musical competition and wins a scholarship to study music in the city. In a few

short years she is playing London's Albert Hall. While Parrett is charming as the teenaged Joyce, the film is filled with the tired rags-to-riches cliches and sheds no new light on the magic that brilliant musicians possess.
