Notable only because its star, Ron Liebman, sued the studio to have his name removed from the credits and advertising, UP THE ACADEMY is another in the seemingly endless parade of inane teenage comedies. This one was produced by Mad magazine in response to its more mature (the term is relative) competitor in the comedy magazine field, National Lampoon, creator of the raunchy teenage film genre with its vastly superior ANIMAL HOUSE. UP THE ACADEMY revolves around a group of teenagers struggling under the tyrannical rule of Liebman, who runs the local military academy where our heroes are enrolled.
