The body count runs high in this gory story of strike and counterstrike set in contemporary Mexico. Machismo mandates that automobile repairman Valentin Trujillo (who also helmed the picture) must avenge the violent death of his father at the hands of a robber. So begins a family feud

worthy of the Hatfields and McCoys as the initial killer's kin exact reciprocal revenge. The picture recounts Valentin Trujillo's metamorphosis from a peaceful partner in a family business to an accomplished killer in a style reminiscent of BONNIE AND CLYDE (1967) with its car chases and, even,

with bluegrass music (harmonica and guitar) to accompany the excitement. Some well-known Mexican players make cameo appearances, and two musical groups are featured. Inclan does well in a comic-relief sidekick role in a generally well-made action film. Nepotism worthy of Hollywood's heyday: the

director-star's brother is a featured player, and writer/producer de Anda's family was everywhere on the sets and locations.
