When Vietnam veteran Travis escapes from an Army discharge hospital, he kidnaps Venable and hides away with her in a secluded mountain cabin. Venable talks him into letting her go if she stays for two days, and the two develop an unusual rapport over the next 48 hours. Travis goes to

town to get some food and robs a bank as well. This robbery upsets the relationship that he's built with the girl, and she forces Travis to return the stolen money. Of course, this leads to tragedy and Venable is left alone, a bit wiser and emotionally drained from the ordeal. This independent

film, like many of its kind, is a work of mixed artistic results. Venable is a real standout, giving a sensitive performance. Travis, on the other hand, is too stiff in a role that clearly demands some expansion. Both are hampered by a script that, while it gives a good setup, never quite probes

as deeply as it should. The direction by the film's author also suffers somewhat from this detached feeling, though the mountain locations are well used, creating a lovely film to look at. For all its problems, the proceedings have a certain sincerity, a youthful earnestness that is often found in

small, independent features.
