A child is kidnaped and murdered along the French Riviera. Two men are seen fleeing the scene of the crime and are chased by the police. One of the two kills a policeman, and the pair then run into a lighthouse. After the police surround the place, three men emerge, all dressed the same

way. Each man claims innocence and accuses the other two. Perkins is an American, a would-be artist involved in a sex scandal back home, Salvatori is a known gigolo with unsavory attitudes towards his women, and Brialy is a real estate man who sometimes uses his sister's sexuality to close deals.

The three are brought to trial, and all are found not guilty, but an angry mob of demonstrators kills the men when they are being transported from court. The real killer is never revealed in this nifty little thriller from France. For an American actor like Perkins to make an all-French film was a

daring career move, but it paid off nicely. His performance is a standout in this clever, well-directed crime picture. Genre fans will love it.
