Twins Reviews

As a result of a government genetic experiment gone awry, twins are born and immediately separated. One is placed in an orphanage in the US; the other grows up on an island as a scientist's assistant. That's the premise TWINS uses to pass off Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito as twin brothers Julius and Vincent Benedict. When Julius learns he has brother, he hurries to the US to find him. Vincent is a small-time car thief. When the two meet, it begins a series of events that will involve the twins with embezzlers, $5 million, and a search for their mother, whom neither has ever seen. Directed by Ivan Reitman (GHOSTBUSTERS), this sorry, would-be comedy inexplicably became a huge hit during the 1988 holiday season, relying mainly on moviegoers' long-standing affection for its stars. Schwarzenegger proves to be mildly amusing, but DeVito seems to be coasting on his past reputation as an audience pleaser.
