Three telephone operators listen in on their customers, thus learning all there is to know about these out-of-town callers. From there it turns into the old show business story of a girl ditching her boy friend and hooking up with a songwriter to become a Broadway smash. Lots of dumb and

unnecessary bits of business are tossed in as well in this confusing, overlong comedy. The film's theme song, "If You Were Mine," gets repeated time after time until the audience knows it almost as well as the cast. The direction lets the slapstick run its course in a simple, unaffected manner.

The acting is convincing enough, but the story is too creaky to be effective.
