After being sentenced to 12 years in prison for his unwitting part in a fraud scheme, Rendel completes his term and returns to his family. The shame of his crime is too much for them to bear, so, rather than tell the truth, Rendel is introduced as "Uncle Charles from South America." When

his son, a very young Mason, is framed by the same crook who sent Rendel to prison, "Uncle Charles" takes the fall and goes back behind bars. There he finds happiness in a world where no snobbery or caste system exists. The film is somewhat stagy and the script is too obvious at times. However,

the direction overcomes some of the problems and entertains occasionally. Interesting for Mason fans in particular.
